You’re probably familiar with the general effects, and maybe even the chemicals, present in marijuana. Interested in learning more, though? The two main compounds that we can focus on are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). While cannabidiol contributes to the feelings of being relaxed and calm, it is a non-psychoactive compound. It contains pain-relieving. antipsychotic, and anti-inflammatory properties, which are attributed to helping patients suffering from various diseases. THC, on the other hand, is responsible for the physical and psychological effects of smoking weed. Short-term effects can range from euphoria and lack of concentration to drowsiness, relaxation, and paranoia. Long-term effects can vary based on frequency of smoking and experience with the drug. However, chemicals can stay in the body for over a week.
