A new designer drug called flakka is just beginning to spread across the country and grow in popularity. Comprised of a similar group of chemicals to bath salts, this hallucinogenic stimulant has the super-strength of meth, bringing on paranoia and delusions.

The drug’s effects can last for just three to four hours, though some users experience lingering effects for multiple days. Flakka is made of cathinones and can be injected, snorted, or swallowed; linked to a state of ‘excited delirium,’ researchers and law enforcement alike hope to raise awareness and stop the spread of this dangerous drug before its popularity increases.
