Finding and nurturing an authentic support system as an adult can be a challenging task. As we grow older, it becomes clear just how important it is to build and foster friendships that are genuine and fulfilling; it also becomes clear what types of people we may no longer need in our lives. During the recovery process, it is especially vital to have a supportive community base to help you grow and learn in your journey. Having people by your side who will push you, motivate you, and drive you in the direction of success are incredibly valuable. You will find an automatic support network in your peers and staff at a treatment facility, and even afterwards creating or joining a community to continue your recovery process will be helpful. Don’t underestimate the power of support and love from others. You too are a source of support for others who are working to recover as well.
